SCA Event

The Society for Creative Anachronism is a throwback to an earlier age. It says so, right in their name. But, that doesn’t begin to describe the organization or its people.

Though I was never involved, I have friends who are scadians and even allowed them to “kidnap” me for a weekend and take me to Pennsic, one of the largest SCA events (or at least it was then). But, this was a much smaller event and it was even local, being held at Nottoway Park in Vienna.

I hung around for about an hour taking photos of people whacking each other with large sticks (the sticks were standing in for swords and otherweapons of individual destruction. Sadly, the photos aren’t what I’d hoped they’d be, but the weather was perfect and it was a beautiful day to be outside.
